June 2021 Update

Dear friends

I’m thrilled to update you on the latest news about some amazing local and international property developments as well as my own personal journey into Europe. I’d also like to share some exciting swimming news.

It’s been nine months since my family began an epic new adventure in Switzerland — a proud nation built with solid family values, deep tradition, and an insatiable love of the outdoors. It’s also a dream lifestyle and investment destination. Although nervous about relocating here, the strides we’ve made (outlined below) have been phenomenal!

Realtor of Excellence (ROE) platforms have now been successfully launched in Switzerland and one of our key projects, the Andermatt ski resort development in the Swiss Alps, has experienced a record year with the highest occupancy since inception and all units sold out. Good news for investors is that Andermatt is launching new homes and apartments onto the market and is constantly hosting new potential SA clients at this stunning retreat. Click for more info

Additionally, we’ve established a powerful network for South African investors in Switzerland which has opened doors to a host of new opportunities in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, and Malta. Our South African property stable has seen significant successes too. I’m proud to share that following 10 years of incrementally working remotely through our virtual office structure and cloud-based platforms, we’ve been fortunate to have grown the ROE team by 40% over the last year.

On the developments front, phase one units at both Ihlathi, an entry-level, green-oriented gated community in Parklands, and at the picturesque Kommetjie Mountain Estate, a secure estate with ocean views, sold out in record time. Ihlathi’s phase three will be launching soon and Kommetjie’s phase two is selling exceedingly well.

Generally, developments in Cape Town priced under R1.5mil have captured most property sales, with the market experiencing a massive in-flow of first-time home buyers taking advantage of the lowest interest rates in 50 years. This has allowed renters to finally make the leap to purchasing their first home.

Finally, Devonbosch lifestyle estate can now add “Tech-Hub of Cape Town” to its impressive list of features with back-up power, fibre and all the infrastructure a forward moving business needs. It’s an innovative, creative space set against a digital landscape in a green and sustainable environment – perfect for established enterprises and trendy start-ups.

With our property projects falling nicely into place, I’ve been able to resume my swim training throughout winter in the northern hemisphere, swimming regularly in under 5°C water in preparation for my 34.5km Oceans 7 swim in The North Channel — the stretch of ocean between Ireland and Scotland — set down for later this year. I’ve linked this mammoth goal to raising funds and awareness for SA-based NPO, Swim for Rivers, which strives to help bring clean drinking water to all (I urge you to support this initiative and to spread the word), and Mauritius-based school, The Ranger Foundation, which provides special-needs schooling and therapy to children and young people with physical disabilities. It’s been incredibly rewarding building a bridge between Cape Town and Europe and helping South Africans diversify their portfolios. In return, we’ve been introducing foreign investment into Cape Town and we’re aiming to grow this incrementally.
